This past weekend I ran my 1st 5k since Holly. It held a special place in my heart. When I ran last years I had just found out I was pregnant with Holly the night before. Ben ran with the girls... and of course I never got a pic of that :-( But a bunch of us Volleyball girls got all dressed up for this run. For many of the girls this was their first 5k. And I could not be more proud of them.... one in particular past me by a couple minutes!!! I had my fastest time.... running 9:44 sec miles and hope to beat it with more 5k's this summer! It is so different running being a nursing mama and also so different than running the a half. It was a perfect day for a run and can't wait for the next one!

TOO FAST!!!
I can't believe Holly is already 3 months! I am sad but so happy too! She is just soo much fun! Although she doesn't just smile at anyone like Ava did. (And sometimes you really have to work for it!) When she does smile she smiles with her WHOLE BODY! She curls her toes... fingers and squints her eyes.... it is just the cutest thing! We are loving this weather and getting to go for walks in our new double stroller. Meeting friends and the park etc.

2 month ck-up

Holly had her 2 month ck-up today....although she is almost 10 weeks old. She weighed in at 12.9! He didn't tell me what that ranked her as but when I looked online that put her in the 82nd percentile! Much bigger than Ava was... Ava always stayed in the 50% range. But I also was unable to nurse Ava past 3 weeks.... the Doc says I have good MILK! LOL

I have to say.. I am sad I was unable to nurse Ava the way I am with Holly. I resented Ava during the whole nursing process cuz it hurt so bad and it just wasn't working.. and then I felt like a awful mom when I stopped. I wish I wouldn't have beat myself up about it so much... but at the same time... oh how I wish it would have worked.
I am not one of the moms that looks down on formula fed babies.... Ava was one of them. And I know plenty of nursed kids that are sick all the time... and ones that had formula and never seem to be sick. So I will never judge anyone for not.
But for my own self. There is something so wonderful about nursing Holly. I feel so much more connected to her. I love the fact that can do something for her that no one else can do. How long do I plan on nursing... people have asked... I don't know. I am not putting a limit or time frame on it. I am nervous about when teeth come in :-0 Eekk.. but we will take it one step at a time. But I do know I will miss it when I am done.
I will not however miss pumping at work....worrying about leaking and all the fun stuff that comes along with nursing :-) But to me it is worth it! And since we are planning on this being our last baby.. I am so glad I have gotten to experience this.

Holly has been much better in the colic department! I really don't know what it was... we did the chiro... and a week and half later it seemed to come back.. so then we did meds... but not sure that was it either. We are not giving her anything now and she has been so happy. I am just soaking up her smiles and cooing! This months ahead I am going to cherish forever!

Holly Faith

Holly Faith was born at 4:35 pm on feb. 12th. Moms water broke at 4 in the morning. Contractions started right away. With some help of pitocin and a epiderhal for only 2 hours. Holly came into the world. She is beautiful and perfect. Seems to be laid back and very content so far :-) Thank you for all your prayers. Will update pics in the near future!

Overdue and ready to pop

Well... I never thought this would actually happen to me. But it did. I am officially overdue. I am going to go to the Y and waddle around the track for the last time today.... more for support of my friend who I haven't seen in awhile... and to know what it is like to have to answer...." I was due __ days ago". But until this baby arrives I will be staying inside....watching movies with my daughter and maybe the occasional hang out at Grandma's. I am alittle afraid of how I would react to someone telling me... she will come when she is ready.... and to that poor person that may be out there... I am sorry ahead of time for what I might say:-)
Is this a poor me.... I'm miserable... ventin blog.. Yes it is. I figure I can do that once in my lifetime :-)
I am really going to try and look at today like I just saw on a friends status. Looking at what happens aS 10% and how I choose to react to it is 90%. If I do not have this girl by Monday they will induce me.... and if one of the ladies that is sch. to be induced this week goes into labor and there is a opening. I will be getting a call to come in.
I now I know why people that go overdue kind of fall of the face of the earth type of concept. To my friends calling. I appreciate your caring... I truely do. But until this baby arrives I may not answer my calls. I may not call back. And it is not because I don't care or appreciate you checking in. I do. I really do. But usually.... i am holding back tears and trying to have a good attitude... and it really gets hard after awhile..... I already sound like i have been overdue for weeks now don't I. :-) That's all for now. My next post will be pics of our Baby Girl... whenever she chooses to show us her beautiful face.

Down to the last week! This weekend Ava really came into her own with being interested in taking care of her baby... feeding.. burping... and rocking her baby. She also was a wonderful helper for the bars I made for church. She loves the last part! Licking the spoon and bowl!

For Ava's Birthday Party we did more than we usually do since it was her Golden Birthday. We rented a room at Thumper Pond and invited some friends and family to come join us. Ava had such a blast at the water park... no pics of that... just video wich i will see if I can get that up :-) She was to exhausted by the end of the night!

Grandma made it through surgery! My mom and her sisters are just waiting for her to wake up right now :-) They were unable to do everything they were wanting...my mom said she will explain why later. But the docs and nurses are very confident that she will have alot of relief from what they were able to accomplish. She will be in ICU for a couple of days... and then depending on how she is doing will most likely go to the Broen home... till she recovers. To those of you praying for her and our family. THANK YOU so much! You have no idea how grateful our family is to you.

My mom and Grandma left for the cities today. My Grandma is having a very serious back surgery on Tuesday. It will take atleast 6 hours... if not more. At her age the worry is being put under for that long of a time. Every since her 1st back surgery she has been in constant pain... and I just pray that she will make it through this surgery and recover to have no more pain at all. She is one of the strongest people I know and I love her so much. And I am so scared of losing her. I keep thinking back to when my Grandpa died and I was pregnant with Ava. I want this baby girl to know her Great Grandma so badly. And with all these extra horomones I have right now... I just lose it on a whim. So if any of you reading this can say a little prayer for her Tuesday. I would be so grateful... and for my family. I work that day... wich is prob. a good thing to keep me busy. But I will post once I hear anything.

I am 24 weeks along today! Yipee :-) I know these last few months are the longest part... but at the same time knowing that this is our last pregnancy I am trying to enjoy it. I feel like it has already gone SOOOO fast! Every kick and movement inside feels different now knowing that. I know she will be here before I know it! I am starting to feel anxious and excited to meet her... what she looks like.. if she will look more like me this time! (just hoping) or a lot like Ava did. I am having a blast looking at new baby carriers and researching all this stuff! So many new things ... that they didn't have when I had Ava.. Like...LEG WARMERS!! I am so excited to use them :-) I know I'm a dork. I actually haven't purchased any outfit yet for this little one. Wich is soo strange knowing how much I had already boughten when we found out Ava was a girl. But maybe because we have soooo much stuff from when Ava was a baby!
For those of you that don't know.. this time we are going to keep the name a secret. I am not sure if we have got it already. But there is only one name that both Ben and I love... so we will see! I will be delivering her at Innovis. Unless there is a really bad snowstorm that we wouldn't want to risk it... don't want to deliver on the side of the road :-) I love my doctor there. And it has been a fun adventure driving to fargo with Ava once a month. She is a great passenger:-) Well.... that's it for now! It's a Girl! We are both very excited about it. And I am feeling great! Besides the huge part :-)

The Pumpkin Patch

Half Marathon :-)

We did it!!! Jenny and I ran the half marathon in Fargo. We started out in pouring freezing weather.... but ended it without stopping to walk. Never in a million years would I have thought I would ever do anything like this. And I believe Jenny would say the same thing. But there was nothing like sprinting to that finish line. It was amazing :-)

1st Dentist Visit

Ava had her 1st cleaning and dental ck up this morning. I was wondering how she would do. I knew I would be the one to clean her teeth and was a little concerned about how she would do with me. But she did amazing! She had already picked out what flavor she wanted before we got there (cookie dough!) She loved when I gave her rinses with water and the suction. And she opened wide for Dr. Kelly (my boss) to count her teeth. I am so proud of her! She wants to go again :-)

It's taken me awhile to get these pics posted :-) We had such a wonderful time in Cancun! The only thing that kept us wanting to get back was Ava :-) We relaxed at the beach everyday. Went snorkeling just a mile or so walk down the beach at a wonderful reef. Saw lots of fish... even some baracuda! Everyday we walked up and down the beautiful beach and swam in the ocean. Even played some beach volleyball and got to know some wonderful people. Hope to go back someday! Here are some pics!

It has been a long time since I have posted anything on our blog. Been very busy! Lots of changes going on :-) I have started a new job.... still transitioning but loving it! Ava has started to go to a daycare on Fridays.... and loves it. I am adjusting to CHANGE. Wich I usually am not a fan of. But I have no doubt this is where we are suppose to be! Tomorrow we go to the cities and leave Ava with Grandma and Grandpa for a week. Ben and I are off to Cancun, Mexico. We are going to miss her so much. Hope so post some pics when we come back.

I have been asked by people the last week and a half what I said at church on Sunday so I figured I might as well post it on the blog so those people could see :-)

First off I am so excited that we are starting the Dave Ramsey course, Financial Peace University, here at our church. When asked if we would speak about our experience with this course my only concern was how I was going to contain everything into 3 minutes :-)

Ben and I took this course last October at Life Church. It was a gift from my parents. And in all honesty we agreed to go but were not excited about it. We thought we were doing fine and didn't want to be told anything different. But after we went to the 1st class our lives and attitudes completely changed. And we got really excited about taking control of our finances and our future.

Dave Ramsey taught us how to tell our money where to go instead of the other way around. How many times have you wondered at the end of the month.... where did all our money go? It somehow disappears.
Or how many times do you and your spouse have what Dave calls "money fights?" With money being one the biggest stresses today.... it's very likely. But since taking this course Ben and I can honestly say what we have not argued about money. And just that alone I believe is HUGE!

Ben and I had always had the thought tha a budget was a restriction or was holding us back from something. But once you tell your money where to go you will feel like you have just gotten the biggest raise of your life.... when really you didn't.

Dave taught us baby step by baby step how to and what to do with our money.We no longer worry about future things like: What will we do if the car breaks down, basement floods, one of us loses a job, kids colleges and retirement.

This course is for everyone and anyone who craves finacial peace. In our group we had people from all stages of life, Married, single, families and retirement. After the last course we were sad that is was over but excited to put to work what we had learned. Everyone in the group came up to Ben and I and told us "to stick with it"! Because if they would had known what they knew now there lives would be completely different. Where Ben and I wished we would have been taught this in highschool!

Dave's course teaches 7 steps to financial freedom. And we have not only gotten that but more!And we want everyone to experience what we have.

I did it! I ran my first race. 5k isn't huge but it's a start.... and I wanted to die after it :-) It was just so humid out! Beth (in the 1st pic) has inspired me soo much. She was the most inshape pregnant mom I have ever known. She has a 2 week out little boy and yes she ran/walked this race too! Ben and Ava woke up early Sat. morning to come cheer me on! It was great to have the support there :-) Now I guess it's time to train for a half huh?

I new this day would happen... I had been fearing it for along time... We were in Target yesterday and Ben took Ava to the bathroom. I proceeded to the ck out line and as I was about to call Ben to let him know where I was he called me and said "I can't find Ava" I then said .. "Are you kidding me!" he said "I wouldn't kid about that". I then walked as fast as possible to where Ben was and he said she walked into the women clothes and now he couldn't find her. I started yelling for her to wich there was no answer. I started running up and down the rows and no sign of her. I ran up to a target lady and interupted her helping someone else. She talked on her walkie -talkie thing saying what she was wearing, her hair color and age. She had me go to the front to make sure no one would take her out of the store. I can't even tell you how many awful things were going through my head. A lady at the front was already standing there and told me to come by her. She sent another lady to go into the bathroom and ck for a little girl. After what seemed like forever!!! I heard over the walkie that they found her and she was with her dad. I then found out a target guy found her hiding in the mens jeans. So many emotions went through my body. So thankful and thanking God that nobody had taken her and angry as all get out that she did that and was acting like everything was ok. How do I explain to a 2 yr. old that what she did was wrong and have it really sink in so that it will never happen again. We had a long talk the whole way home with lots of tears..... I hope it sunk in. I am so impressed with Target and how well they managed the whole thing! There is nothing like it... that feeling in your stomache that something awful has happened to your child. I hope that now we have this out of the way.... it will never happen again

My 1st project!

After looking at a friends blog I was inspired to make Ava a dress. I found some fabric that I really wanted to get in Perham and deceided it was time to give it a try. But seeing the fabric was very expensive I thought I would try my 1st time at this out on a less expensive fabric :-) I saw these polka dots and had to get it :-) My Grandma spent an entire afternoon teaching me how to use the sewing machine and helping understand the pattern. It's not perfect but I was impressed it even looking like a dress! Thanks 'A ' for the inspiration!

Lovin' the lake life

Last Sunday we went out to the lake... it was a little windy and by the time my parents came out we had just enough time to eat dinner before being poured on. But I cannot even explain how beautiful the lake was after the mini storm was gone. The entire lake was glass... and I wanted to make that moment last forever. We got the pontoon out and enjoyed every minute of it. The wind picked up an hour later but I am so glad we were able to enjoy the peacefulness of the night. Ava was able to get some fishing in again too!

After going to the dental convention in March I was convinced that it was time to take Ava's Pacifiers away. I needed to wait till I had a week off from work so that my mom wouldn't be put in this hard position. I am afraid this is going to be a very hard couple of days... see Ava has to have one pacifier on her finger and one in her mouth. (Not sure exactly why but she would always loose them in her crib so we always put an extra one in there) If she looses one during the night we hear her yelling for the 2nd one even though she has one in her mouth ! :-) I have decieded to go with the cutting method. One will just happen to be "broken" and the 2nd will become broken tonight also....So here goes nothin!

We finally finished painting the shutters on the upper level. It was pretty scary on the ladder. I did the lower part and my hero of a husband did the upper parts :-) He also suprised me this week after working at bello's with a bonfire pit!! Last week we found a apron my mom had gotten Ava but hid it so well she forgot to bring it out for Christmas to go with her kitchen set :-) The only way we could get her to wear it was if all of us wore one... so here we are!!! Well this Easter I woke up early in the morning to get ready for work. Got Ava all ready for Church and sent Daddy and Ava off. I was not very excited that I was going to miss church and being with family. But I was yet reminded as I went off to work that because of Easter I have a reason to get up each morning. I would have nothing to look forward to if Jesus hadn't risen. And how I need to be thankful each day not just on Easter that He is the reason for every season :-)

Here are just a few pics of the wedding we went to in the cities. My good friends Sarah got married in Afton on Sat. I had such a great time hanging out with all the girls I used to work with. It was like a mini reunion since not everyone was able to make it. She looked just beauitful. And I have to say EHarmony works!

This past weekend we left Ava with the grandparents and spent the weekend with my best friend Erica and her husband Josh. We had such a great time, we wish we could have spent more time with them! There daughter Brooklyn is such a cutie pie!

If you were to ask Ava who her boyfriend is she would say Lawson. They play at the Y together almost everyday and we had Lawson and his mom over for a playdate afterwards this week. They had a great time!

Hot Heads

This is the volleyball team that I have been playing with. Becca started a salon called Hot Heads.... hence the name of our team. It's been so much fun playing and making new friends ... it is sad it's almost over ... time flies when you are having fun.... but there is always next year :-) I've been meaning to get a pic of all of us with our matching uniforms!
